Our History
The City State Bank of Palacios opened
for business on August 27, 1940, under State Banking Charter
1700, with FDIC insurance providing protection for depositors to
this day.
The Bank originally opened for business in a new building on
Fourth Street (now the City Hall). As the Bank’s deposits and
loans increased an additional office and board room was added to
the building. In March 1962, City State Bank hosted an Open
House to display its new modern building at 459 Main Street.
Several renovations and additions to that building have enhanced
customer convenience and staff efficiency.
The City State Bank was organized to serve the banking needs of
the citizens of Matagorda County and the surrounding areas.
Local ownership of the Bank ensures that Palacios area citizen’s
financial needs are of the upmost importance.
